Vincent is Walt’s yellow Labrador retriever. He originally belonged to Brian Porter, Walt's adoptive father. After Walt's mother, Susan, died, Michael took Vincent from Brian without his permission. When Walt objected, stating that Vincent belonged to Brian, Michael told Walt that Brian gave him the dog. He did this both as an act to console his son and out of his contempt for Brian. While on Oceanic Flight 815, Vincent was presumably in the luggage compartment of the aircraft.
